Mental Health Awareness Week

The month of May is considered Mental Health Awareness Month. And the week of May 6-10 marks Mental Health Awareness Week across Canada. This year's Canadian Mental Health Association theme is "A call to be kind, because compassion connects us all."

This week, and every week, we want to encourage our school communities to show kindness whenever they can. Kindness and compassion have such a strong power to heal emotional wounds and remind us all of what makes humanity so great! #CompassionConnects

Specifically, across the PRSD, students and staff will participate in two days meant to raise awareness around the topic of mental health. On May 8 we are going to tell our students to leave their hats ON for mental health, and on May 10, we are asking that everyone wear something green.

Many of our schools are also participating in a variety of other activities or helping to promote community events. Check out your school's Facebook page or website for more information.
